Memorandum signed with Bhutanese company BRETS
On Wednesday, March 25, 2026, UP IAM InnoRenew CoE signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for technical cooperation in innovation and capacity building within wood science and technology with Bhutan Regenerative Engineered Timber Systems (BRETS).
BRETS is dedicated to developing climate-resilient infrastructure and promoting sustainable forest management. Their operations are rooted in nature-based solutions and align with Bhutan’s constitutional mandate to maintain at least 60% forest cover for future generations. This vision laid the foundation for a strategic partnership with UP IAM InnoRenew CoE, a leading institution in the advancement of wood science and related technologies.
Under the terms of the memorandum, the partners will focus on research and development projects specifically targeting innovative timber applications in sustainable infrastructure and knowledge exchange in the systematic strengthening of professional competencies.
Marking the occasion, Karma Thinley, CEO of BRETS, and Dr. Vito Vitrih, Director of UP IAM, expressed their shared commitment to a close, long-term collaboration.
